Family, Fun and the Fourth of July

C and I were itching to take the new car on a road trip, so spending the 4th of July in Denver away from the Texas heat was just the solution!

[the car did fabulous by the way, about 40 miles to the gallon!]

My brother extended his trip in Denver so we got to see him too! My parents heard about the Gold Coaster in Breckenridge. As a family we headed up to the mountains to ride the Gold Coaster and enjoyed a picnic in the gorgeous scenery, which C and I completely enjoyed! We didn't realize how much we miss the mountains.
We also ate some amazing meals. Yep, Cafe Rio was worth the 840 miles, as were the stuffed
jalapeno peppers.

While we were in town we visited my grandparents grave. This week we would have celebrated grandma B's 77th birthday, Happy Birthday Grandma B!

To top the trip off C and I got this crazy notion to run a 5K. So we signed up for the 4th of July 30th Annual Freedom Run in Evergreen, benefiting the Mt. Evans Hospice and Home Health Care. Even though the hills and elevation took a bite into our time, we had a great time, and even met some people who ran in the last Texas race we ran!

Our trip was a wonderful break! We're proud to be Americans, we love the family we have and land we call our home.

Until next time, we're basking in Cloud 9!
