January - Part 2

This post is for my husband, and the joy he brings to my life!

In our ward (church congregation) C has been called to work with the 11 year olds, not only for Sunday school, but also for Scouts on Tuesdays. C likes the calling. . . he gets to do boy things with the scouts that his wife is not always such a fan of . . . like camping, and knot tying, and pinewood derby's!

While C's boys aren't cub scouts, everyone in the ward was invited to participate in the pinewood derby following the cub scout races. Once C heard that he could build a car for the race, he was all over it! Now, C likes to build rockets, so it didn't surprise me that he wanted to build a car, and I was totally fine with it! C however provided a laundry list of reasons why it was a good idea, in the event that I might become unconvinced, some are as follows:
- I get to use the power tools that you've bought me...
- I have a theory about the way the pins moves to start the race that I want to try out ...
- The car cost $3.50, that fits in the budget . . . LOL!
- I think I should practice building a car now so when we have kids in scouts I'll be good at it ...

Thus, the building began! I would find C in the family room staring at the car parts (there I learned some secrets to getting the most speed out of the wheels), in the garage with the saw and power tools, and in my craft chest looking for an acceptable paint color. C proudly finished the car and was excited to test his design theory. Being the supportive wife I am, I told him it looked more like a boat, just add a sail and it would be a mini version of an amphibious car on Top Gear, C was unimpressed with this proposition.

We went to the race and had a great time. C's scouts cheered for his car, it was cute. In the end C's car took first place 3 times and he won the award of most practical (which totally fits)! The car now sits proudly on his dresser, just waiting for another race!

Until next time, we're living on Cloud 9!
