School began in August, which meant no more sleeping in for B! Thus far this school year has been much better than last year. Here a a few of the highlights:
- Organization. I has taken me a year to really figure out what works for me, but this year I'm extremely organized; it's a beautiful thing! Part of the beauty is this fabulous calculator holder that my mom helped me construct. Last year all of the classroom calculators were in a black box of mess. I could never tell if I had all of them, but now with one look I know!
- Decorations. Last year I was inspired by my 8th grade history teacher to hang a few college pennants in my classroom - inspire the kids to dream big! Well, long story short Ms. Heine retired a few years ago and heard about my small pennant wall. When we were in Denver last December she told me she had been thinking about a good home for her pennants, and she asked me if I wanted them! Yes! So needless to say my room is decked out, and very cheery! Dream big ninth-graders, pass algebra, and dream big!
- Knowledge. The 2nd year teaching high school is so much better than the first. This year I know what I'm doing! Not that I didn't know what I was doing last year, I'm trained professional you know! All joking aside it is nice to know the curriculum, the work load, what to "expect" from the kids, parents and coworkers. While this year has not been a cake walk, I sure enjoy my job more than last year. Teaching is definitely in my blood!

I'm so glad that school is going well. The second year is a lot better for the very reason that you know the curriculum, you have come backs to everything they throw at you, and you can just tweak your lessons for the better! When I was in West Valley I HAD to get the calcs organized because they always "walked off." I ended up getting an over the door clear shoe organizer very similar to yours that I numbered. Yours is WAY cuter though. Hmmm, project? Love the college banners. Miss you!
