C + B = Homeowners

C and I decided to take the plunge and buy a house! The tax incentives, low interest rates, and depressed property values (or the trifecta as C likes to call it) couldn't have made it a better time to buy. After a few minor repairs, new paint everywhere, new carpet (made from corn - very eco!) and help from my brother, all of our belongings are in our new house - they'll all be put away and have a place, in time.

We love our house, here are some of the reasons:

C loves it because . . .
  • It has a dedicated study off the entryway. (The classy man-cave as I like to call it!) It has glass paned french doors and plenty of room for the knowledge repository of C's engineering books, with a few (more than 10) Tom Clancy's thrown in for good measure.
  • Irrigation system, aka the sprinklers - they start at a touch of a button!
  • 2 car garage - both cars fit!

B loves it because . . .
  • Gorgeous Kitchen with granite counters and loads of space! For those of you who know me well, or lived with me during college, know I have many kitchen gadgets - now they all have a home and are no longer in boxes. We're cookin' on! (Although we had to order oven racks - who buys a house that doesn't have oven racks, us!)
  • 2 words - Master Closet. The closet is very spacious and everything has a place. And yes C does get 1/2 of it.
  • Laundry room -- it is not a tiny closet space and we have a fancy new washer and dryer. My parents decided to keep the family tradition going to give each kid a house-warming gift of something they really needed/would use in a new house. Well, we really needed a new washer and dryer (they were leaking oil, yes OIL, and having a hard time cleaning properly). So now when C and I need some entertainment we start a load of laundry and watch it through the glass lid!

WE love it because . . .
  • Fabulous neighborhood, very friendly and family oriented.
  • Running trails and parks through the subdivision, it makes running and going for a Sunday walk very convenient.
  • It's our first house and we are learning valuable life skills and lessons.
  • Feels like home!

Until next time, we're living on Cloud 9!
