Turkeys and Toilets

Yeah, I know we're at least 2 holidays behind, but we will get caught up eventually!

This year (2011) C and I got to host Thanksgiving in our home for the first time!  My parents and brother flew down for the holiday, and all went really well!
[Taken from my bros phone - not sure what's with the face he's making ;) ]
[DIY: Burlap stitched round the edge and frayed makes for a simple, yet elegant place mat.]

While I was getting the turkey ready (seasoned with fresh rosemary and covered with pancetta - best turkey I've ever eaten!) and everyone was sampling different flavors of gourmet bottles soda, my dad and C were putting in new toilets.  Yes, you read that right, we installed new toilets on Thanksgiving day with company in our home.  Oh, and the new toilets are lovely, if you must know. :)

I loved having my parents in town.  Not only do we have a great time, we get so much done!  Little things checked of the honey-do list like:

  • Christmas decorations up inside

and out.

  • Sewing a Christmas Tree skirt - love it!!!  Waffle cloth ruffle alternated with a  cream on cream paisley ruffle.  (I got the idea from HGTV, but we sewed the ruffles on so it could be washed if needed.) My mom thought it was so cute that she is now making herself one.

  •  Christmas shopping, no pic of that, but it sure was fun!
  • Fixing the fireplace door - after 18 months of wondering what do do with it, both doors now open and close properly.
  • Getting the bike rack up in the garage (more to come on this later).
We were very grateful for their visit and enjoyed spending the holiday together.

Gratitude flowing from Cloud 9!
